Brilliant Lew, a really clever work and great detail everywhere. Love the not-happy mutt and the "if only I were 20 again"guy's admiring stare. Great work.

Ah! You are so good at getting all the expressions on people's faces, great work as usual!

Interesting to see how you build up your pictures, Lewis. Love the two stylish young ladies - and the grumpy dog with old lady - your characters are all so lifelike, the dog's expression is priceless!

That’s great Lewis. I love to see the process as well. Fascinating detail, wonderful expressions!

Terrific, Lewis.

Love the peeved pug .... and the neglected customer at far right.

Brilliant, Lewis. Everything about this painting is terrific, as the viewer finds himself/herself wandering from one super image to the next. Bravo! Bri

Great to see your build up for your final painting but I like the two ladies on there own, they make a great painting on their own 😀

All brilliant Lewis but the pencil drawing of the waiter is wonderful

Love it Lewis. Great piece of work

Thank you all very much for your comments. A bit back to front this...usually you show the preliminary sketches first.

So good to see your sketches Lewis and the finished painting looks amazing.

So very fascinating to see how you built up your painting and changed things appropriately. Brilliant result, love it and it,s new to me as I didn't see it first time round.

Love your sense of fun, acute observations and great skill in telling a story. You are better than Monet an Beryl Cook combined and should be living in the lap of luxury Lewis.

I find myself searching every corner and every detail in your paintings Lewis, I don’t want to miss anything! Always full of interesting people and scenarios.

Never apologise for showing us again, I enjoy looking at these Lewis, also we don't always see them the first time around :)

P.s love the policeman, reminds me of allo' allo'. Good moaning :))

As usual Lewis - great characterization !

Here are some sketches I made before starting a recent painting. It was supposed to be a street scene in 1920s Paris. But it was all made up, sometimes I don't want to be 'restricted' by reference pictures. You'll see I haven't attempted to copy my sketches exactly, they were just to give me the feel for the final picture. I hope it's of interest, and apologize for reposting the completed painting. A4 sketchbook...pencil and watercolour pencil. Finished pic, watercolour 16 x 20 inches.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
