I feel inspired by Sheila's limerick on her sketch...here goes... There was an old artist named Lew, Who just didn't know what to do, So he gave it some thought to stop getting fraught, and came up with an idea or two. Sorry about that, just remember, as Shakespeare famously said...'Poems ent easy.' Should you choose to comment, don't feel obliged to do it in verse (heh..heh..)

Your work would look great in the weekend issue of a national paper.

There was an Old artist called Lew, He is one of many artists I view. Some of his paintings are so so queer, They are best viewed after loads of beer, But keep 'em coming I like them I do. I think I will stick to painting !!! Mind you I am sometimes like that poet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what shall I paint.??

Oh well done you lot with your Limericks. Now a mighty fine artist called Lew Once got into a bit of a stew He worked hard all day with brush and with pen ................sorry folk can’t think of anything more, too early. As usual Lew , love your drawing.

Wha-HEY!! I wasn't really expecting any verse (or whatever). Well done you lot, and thanks for your comments. I'm with Tony on this, I think I'll stick to making pictures. I'll leave the poetry to the likes of Sylvia 'Wordsworth' Evans.

Brilliant again Lewis and great fun to read the limericks which I can't add to !!

Oh to be in England, on such a lovely day, Blue sky, green grass and daffodils and birdies out to play. I'd like to think of something smart to step out front and say, I'd better draw it all instead the good old Lewis way... Anon... (-:

Roses are red violets are blue, great to have an artist as good as you, ha ha that's all I can think of the moment 😂😂😂

There's an artist online who's called Lew, his cartoons and idea's are not few, I cogitate, on this one which is great, and there's many more that I hope I will view.

I'd better not try and limericks...the others would beat me hands down!!! Brilliant and fun as ever Lewis. Thank you for sharing such wonderful wit and skill

Lew that's not like you, So good it has to be true. Hey oh I'm smiling away, You always brighten my day. I tried!!! Keep them coming,

I wandered over Lakeland hills Which was really very super And I thought I saw the Bard himself But oh no, it is Lewis Cooper !

My ghasted has never been so flabbered! I wasn't expecting this reaction. I suppose some of you out there take the slightest suggestion as a challenge, and pick it up and run with it, perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised. I don't think I'll risk another poem, my poetry ambitions have been outgunned and sunk with all hands. Thanks to all who commented, and an extra thanks to those who had a sudden attack of the poeticals.

I can't compete with all these poets, I just want to say how glad I am that you joined POL and give me something to giggle about every day😂

Wonderful as are the the poems this has inspired. Love it.

What great fun Lewis, you really lift the spirits.

Another cracker, a humourous story wonderfully described in paint.

Oh that's great Lewis and so are the ditties 😂

This is fun, Lewis! A bit late with my ditty, but here goes... There was a young artist called Lew Admired by more than a few But on Painters Online his work was so fine That his fan base rapidly grew!

Thanks again to the late arrivals, and to Jenny for her Limerick. You've all been very kind. I shan't do this again, for fear of putting a strain on your poeticals...at least I won't do it again until the next time I do it again.

More nonsense. The idea came from a forum about quotes, Spike Milligan and poetry as sources for paintings. All I was trying to do here was depict how a poet might look when struggling for the right words. We'll have to ask Micheal if this is how he looks when working on his poetry.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
