Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. Lovely wet into wet cloads. This helps to sharpen the edges of the biuldings and make them stand forward. Your far distant trees are painted while the sky is still wet. This also helps to give that all important depth. Warm washes of colour on the fronts of the biuldings give that sunlit affect. The dark shadows have work well and figure make the street look lived in. Need I say more? A good attempt at a difficult subject. You have used my painting project to produce a lovely painting Wendy. Just one thing. Keep an eye on your perspective. Other than that, a good job done. I'm sure you will use everthing you have learnt from this exercise to paint a really good street scene from one of your own photographs.

I really appreciate Colin's comments, and I am now searching out photos of other street scenes. I am usually best at painting thatched cottages, or landscapes/seascapes. I also stick clear of vehicles, as I find these very difficult.

Wendy Stilwell sent in her version of Colin's painting project saying; 'I know my limitations and stuck to what I know best, just watercolour.'
