Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. You have given this subject a great deal of thought and it has paid off Dennis. The figure on the left apears a littlte high though. It's further into the picture then the pair on the right but is the same size. Heads should be the about same hight on a level road (unless they are children) so the figure should be slightly smaller. Other than that it's lovely piece of work ! Well done.

Dennis Philpott sent in his version of Colin's painting project saying: ' Studying the photo I observed several problems. Houses, Cars and perspective. Once I had sketched my version, I simplified my version by omitting the telegraph poles, lamp posts, ticket machine, distant buildings and some of the cars. I imagined this pic on a sunny day, and thought the bare background trees suggested the Autumn. I felt the tree on the left was too dominating so I gave it a trim and it somehow enhanced the area around the church. I introduced some warm colours to the houses but kept the front one cool to create some shadows. Finally I added some people and wrapped them up in coats to back up the autumnal feel.'
