Love the colours in this painting

Agreed, this is very good Mickton, have not come across your name before, this is a lovely starter painting if you r new to here or if not new it is lovely anyway!

I think this is the most pleasing of the paintings you have posted - the colours and tones work really well here.

Colin Steed - Artist & Tutor. Starting with a wet wash as your background is the ideal way to start a woodland scene even when using acrylic. You have a lovely style Mickton. Your tone values and colouring are good. The tree needed to be slightly off centre to the right though and you may have just alittle to much detail in the distance and one or two braches could have been left out. You have achieved a lovely feel of light coming from behind the subject. This is the effect I was looking for when setting the prodject. Excellent job Mickton.

Wonderful rich colours and beautiful shafts of light through the trees. My favourite so far in this LP series of paintings.

Mickton Wellbee sent in his version of Colin's project saying: 'I started the woodland scene with a simple sketch, Next I put in a watery acrylic background then continued with thicker dabs towards the end. I chose a 24 inch x 18 inch canvas (bigger than normal for me).'
