Colin Steed-Artist &amp;Tutor.<br />Yes Stuart this is a very good attempt. You do have a small issue with your perspective on the left hand tower. Your eye line is at the same height as the bridge and road so they should run straight across the paper. Your lifting out technique is very good. A darker sky would have created stronger contrast between the light sides of the towers and the sky. Tonal contrast is the key to lifting out colour. Thank you for sending in the image, I look forward to seeing more.

Stuart Devereux sent in his version of Colin's project saying: 'For a relative novice like myself this was a great exercise in lifting out, which I managed successfully for the towers and the central supports, but failed with the suspension struts and reflections in the river where I had to resort to a touch of white gouache. This is the first painting I have submitted to PaintersOnline and, apart from the rather drunken left-hand tower, I was quite please with how it turned out'
