Hi Sandra, I like the way my eye is drawn towards the much lighter area beyond the arch. I had a go at this as well, and like you intended to do more with negative painting, especially to bring out the sculptural nature of the leaves on the right, but ended up making it too busy. I think your negative painting has worked well and I like the different tones you've used to create recession.

Sandra Jones followed Di's tip to get a summery feel to the picture but felt she ended up overworking the foreground foliage. She says: 'I was intending to bring out the shapes by negative painting but it didn't quite work out like that! I also had problems with taking a photo of it, the image you see is cropped a bit.'
