Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. Yes June it is a difficult subject but overall you have produced a lovely painting. I can see you have taken on board most of the main points from my article and your buildings look upright too. I would suggest you go darker with some of your dark areas, particularly the foreground grass, and parts of the hedges and trees behind the buildings. this would create more tonal contrast and make the buildings even more sunlit. Also, when painting trees tapper your branches to small twigs. I love the figures and dog. Brilliant !

June Hirst sent in her version of Colin's project saying: 'I am enjoying a watercolour course at the moment and currently practising painting buildings, as I have a tendency to make them lean to the right. What a difficult choice for me this was, but I found the method very helpful and enjoyed it very much'
