Lochranza Castle

It has good depth: I'd have included a bird or three, just to add a little movement: human figures optional, I think! I'm rarely very keen on including them unless a scene would look unreal without them. I like the way the light just catches the wall of the castle - it gives the painting a lift: would the castle have thrown a reflection, I wonder? The foreground boat does.... but anyway, artist's choice.

Yes a beautiful spot.

Thank you Robert and Jill for your comments. I take on board your comments regarding birds Robert and you are right as the painting needs to show a little movement. Cheers.

I really like this. It is atmospheric with a nice sense of depth.

Brian Ingram sent in his project saying: 'I painted this on Bockingford NOT surface watercolour paper. I agree with Stephens comments and I’ve done a composition fairly similar to his proposal. I’ve painted different boats and I notice I’ve failed to include human figures in the painting which I think is a mistake. I would appreciate any comments anyone has'
