Rosemary Hale sent the following comments on Guy's painting: 'This painting has a good, clean look to it and, Guy, I think you have succeeded well with simplifying the background and your bridge stands out very well. The trees look rather one-dimensional and their structure could be better. Try painting trees with more than one shade of dark tone: your trees look brown and would be more interesting if some blue-dark or purple-dark was added to the brown on the paper whilst still wet. And sketching trees (now, in the winter before the leaves come back) would be a great way to learn about their structure.'

Guy Nicholson sent in his version of Cherry Eye Bridge saying: 'My picture is painted in watercolour (A4 size) using Winsor and Newton paper & paints. The project photograph was really inspiring and in my painting I have tried to reproduce the whole scene. The only change I have made is to simplify the background so that the bridge stands out and remains the main focal point.'
