kate Middleton study WIP by leigh hammett

Coming along well - as with the two drawings also shown on this page, particularly the one in coloured pencil, I think it comes a lot nearer to its subject than Paul Emsley did. An awful fear seems to grip professional portraitists when they approach the royal family - and I suspect some of them just try too hard. This one already looks simply more INTERESTING than the Emsley portrait.

I have posted my finished drawing, uncanny that three were posted together. Yours is coming on great I wish I could paint in oils it always looks so professional a drawing looks as though it is preparation for the real thing. Your painting already looks regal and belongs in the National Gallery. I look forward to the final painting. I submitted mine to the Sun Newspaper you should too.

Lots of Kate's being posted at the moment but this one hits the spot for me. You have not only captured such a good likeness but you have managed to say something about who she is - a rare talent to do that with a portrait.
