Your bold style certainly suits these sunny scenes. The white robes and pots against the darks in the buildings and stall work well.

It's a wonderful watercolour; would never have guessed the pots drove you mad: where are you currently incarcerated? And what are the visiting hours? The white robes really stand out; like the contours of the shadows. When you say pen work, do you mean Indian ink and a traditional steel nib?

I agree, this is wonderful. And I'd like to add to Robert's questions by asking what colours did you use for this piece. The browns, as on the donkey look great.

Your gallery is fabulous!! This pen and wash technique is my favourite too. You have such very strong contrasts, it makes the whole so hot and sunny. Beautiful!!!

A lovely work! You've captured the lighting beautifully.

Your toils have paid off! this is brilliant.

Thank you ALL for your wonderful comments. Robert...I use all kinds of pens but on this one I wanted the pen work to be fine so I used a fountain pen and indian ink. Also, I used diluted ink as a base for those dark shadows, I find that this prevents the watercolour going muddy on the later washes. Larry... I used ultra marine as a base and lifted from the base to form the highlights, then I use a sepia glaze with a touch of crimson to finish. Other colours were Naples yellow, raw sienna, burnt sienna and aliz crimson.

Lovely bright colour, and the light on this is beautiful.

This is marvellous and all your hard work has clearly paid off, well done!
