There is something really attractive about your style of work. The use of the pen to define your subject without over using it - restraint is difficult I find - so well done. The sky is wonderful. Did you do it in one go or did you use overlay washes? All in all a great painting.

Adding a P.S. - This is obviously quite a large painting. How have you scanned it in to your computer. I only have an A4 scanner and it chops the sides of paintings.

Thank you all so much for your comments it's very encouraging to have positive feedback from artists like yourselves. The painting is 16 by 12inchs. I use a Nicon 8 megpix digital camera instead of a scanner. This has many advantages, the colour rendering is acurate and you can test the effect of a wash before laying it down.Which is what I did with this painting. The sky was painted in three washes. First was lemon yellow which stains the paper and allows you two further washes without mudying. The second was a mixture of ultramarine and cobalt blue merged mostly in the forground with magenta.Third was the blue mix and paynes grey layed in the forground to give a hard edge to the left side of the cloud trails. Lastly I scrape back to the yellow with a stitch cutter to bring out the highlights.
