Blood on the rose goes back way before Steeleye Span, too, but blowed if I can remember where it originates; these colours are supposed to be the student range, as opposed to Rembrandt, aren't they? You're achieving some very effective paintings with them, and this is certainly one of them.

i love her expression and the detail of her clothes would love to know what shes thinking......
