Another lovely painting. You consider the sky the difficult element but for me it would be the rest of it. Too much green and I start to panic that's why I don't like doing ( can't do ) landscapes!! You've portrayed the sheep wonderfully well in this one. I read your comment on one of Bill Bowens paintings and see you are from Penarth. My mum was from Swansea and I spent every school holiday for my first sixteen years on the beaches and bays in and around Swansea. Wonderful memories!

I agree that the sky you painted is very hard indeed and you have painted it very well, I particularly like the way you depicted the sun's rays. Being a beginner with watercolour I go for less dramatic skies! The rest is great with the different greens and the flock of sheep are lovely too. Well done to you.

Hi Steven, I've lived in Central Scotland for the last 34 years. Don't get down to Swansea very often these days but still have relatives there. One I see quite regularly as his daughter now lives in the north of Scotland. Will get back down to Swansea some day soon I hope, miss it.

Watercolour, The sky was the difficult element to this painting! I practised it three times before attempting the real thing. The sky is regressed using ultramarine running into cobalt blue, then using sepia and a little crimson I bled into the blue. Finally took out the highlights with clear water and a damp brush. You have no control over the soft edges but the hard edges help with the perspective.
