A good piece of work but if you could pop into the path say a small with dog it would give the picture more virility. As it stands I am uncertain as to whether my eye is to follow the path to ??? . . . or to let it rest on the church.

Thanks for your feedback - that's very helpful. The composition was already provided to me as a piece of homework but, you're quite right, there's nothing stopping me from trying to be more creative about how I approach it by adding my own touches!

Stars of the show are those middle distance trees, very clever subtle variations in tone keep all of them separate and i love your shadowy bases of the right hand ones picked out against the sunlit field beyond

This is my lastest piece of homework. It has been created by using pastels on black Ingres pastel paper and was given to us to try and learn how to create depth in a painting. I didn't much like the subject to begin with but then it really grew on me and I got quite addicted to choosing the colours and trying to make it work.
