Simply outstanding scene Kevan, and you have done it justice. I do love the stream, its worked out well.

Another smasher, love the layer of mist in background Kevan.

Lovely textures in the foreground and that stream works well leading us into the misty distance.

Thankyou Alan, Carol and Val, your comments as always much appreciated.

Unusual way of starting but it works so well Kevan. The mist, that distant peak are smashing.

Such quality and atmosphere Kevan....beautiful.

Love the colours and atmosphere Kevan, gives a real feel of the place, I have spent many hours and years in and around Glenco climbing and walking mainly in winter love the place. I find it really interesting the way you approached this to get this great result, you can really feel the place.

Thankyou Helen, Fiona and Derek, and especially to Malcolm, yes, I hope to capture a sense of place in my work, and hopefully to reach through that to a more elemental sense of nature. Sometimes that happens, most times not!

Great textures in the foreground, Kevan! They are very effective. Love the mist too. You have a lovely gallery.

Thankyou all, and you Jennifer, very nice of you to say that.<br />

This is one of many attempted paintings from one fabulous day's walk up the Lairigg Eilde Valley in Glencoe ('Dreich' is another already uploaded). I think it's the fundamental simplicity of the scene, together with the atmospheric effects of the misty morning and my own sense of excitement and discovery on that day that have made this such an enduring subject for me. To start off the stream I collaged mixed materials into loosely applied inks and acrylics to play around with colour and texture.
