Really like this, Kevan. Is it acrylic?

Such beautiful textures Kevan.

Thankyou Carole, and yes, John, it's acrylics - in this painting and most of my works for that fact I use both the fluid acrylics (especially in the sky) which I love for their strong Ink-like colour and wet-in-wet blending techniques, and the heavy body acrylics which give you the meaty, oil-painting type textural qualities. The contrast of these surface qualities are very important to me.

It looks fabulous Kevan and you have done the landscape justice yet again. Perhaps it's time for me to take a trip up north and get some inspiration.

Thanks Alan, yes, do come on up to the bonny country - so much to explore, and the people aren't that bad either!

Caught my eye as soon as I logged in. Powerful stuff, and as one struggling with "realism" just now, I appreciate your transcending of it. I like those hard edges in the sky: showing that rules can be broken with great benefit.

Thankyou Robert - yes that balance between representing the world and expressing yourself is a constant, shifting challenge isn't it.

Congratulations on being chosen for one of June's paintings Kevan, and also on facebook. Very well derserved.

Wonderful - everyone's comments are really giving me a boost!

Add me to the list of admirers - not enough abstract/seme abstract here on POL.

THANKYOU MICHAEL

This is an extremely effective use of acrylic for a wonderful abstract landscape - love it

Thanks again Lynne!

GREAT INSIGHT, FORMS ,COLOURS, SOMEONE PAINTING WHAT THEY FEEL,WHY COPY NATURE WHEN YOU CAN EXPRESS IT IN THIS SEMI ABSTRACT WAY..ITS PRAISING IT KEVIN NOT TRYING TO BE A CAMERA!!..I AM SLOWLY LEAVING FIGURATIVE REALISM FOR MORE AND MORE ABSTRACT LANDSCAPES MYSELF ..CHECK ME OUT ..DAVE WILKES..WELL DONE

Fantastic Dave, Thankyou. This is a great forum for meeting like-minded artists. This is one of my most abstract works to date, and I think by far the best received, which points me strongly forward in this direction, so again, thank you everyone!

ANOTHER BEAUTY KEVAN THIS IS ALL THE SUBJECT NEEDS TO EXPRESS THE DRAMA OF THE MOMENT ,LOVE THE TEXTURES..DAVE WILKES

A semi-abstract approach to the character and feeling of the landscape I call home, here in Wigtownshire in the far Southwest of Scotland.
