Hi Barrie, nice work on this in spite of the trials the paper gave you. I recommend Fisher 600 grit sanded paper which is made in England. It was produced by a pastel artist. It is wonderful pastel paper and holds a lot of pastel. One can use terpenoid to liquefy pastels for an undercoat and it does not bother the surface or wrinkle the paper. paul

This is where I learnt not to use Ingres pastel p[aper. This has regularly spaced vertical lines in the paper, which do not take the pastel. These lines showed up in the lighter parts of the painting and I resorted to painting them out with acrylic paint. Even then, it was difficult persuading the pastel to adhere to the acrylic.
