This is fantastic Kay, just brilliant!

Leaving aside for a minute any question of artistic excellence, this is a superb likeness: and that's no small achievement - really capturing a face you can't possibly have seen (I would have thought) in the flesh requires the keenest eye for nuance and detail. There's a future for you as a portraitist.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I love faces, especially interesting ones; faces with a story to tell, ones that reflect the character of that person - ones with a twinkle in the eye. I found, though, that this smouldering, sexy gaze was definitely the gaze of Johnny Depp and not his cheeky character, Jack Sparrow. We know by the dress and make up who it is straight away, yet we get a sneaky glimpse of the actor behind the character when you look past the veneer of the character. I hope I have have been able to portray this in the painting :-D

Oh and by the way Robert, you are absolutely correct in that I have not seen this face in the flesh. I wish!!!
