gorgeous capturing of this single Rose in close up Kay, super depth of colour and super rendering of the water droplets falling on the petals and great work on that splashing of the water on those petals as well

I love the way you've carried off the relatively dark value rose against the even darker background, whilst keeping so much life & sparkle - and such a sense of movement.. Brilliant. Could the rose be called Ena Harkness? I'm sure my father grew roses grown by someone called Harkness (Jack??)

Bill, the Rose is named Ena Hartness, it could be Hartness! I will check. Thank you for your kind comments (everyone!), they are much appreciated

Just beautiful, I have several Ena Harkness roses, they flower year after year.

Oil on canvas, 20" x 20". This is going to be a gift for my good friend for her birthday in November, she has no idea. Ena Hartness is a very old rose which flowers every year in her garden, so I took load of photos of it with her husband stood over with a watering can! It was a beautiful sunny day, so really made the water splashing really sparkle against the beautiful velvet-like petals. Hope she likes it, I am really chuffed with it :-)
