I like the way you handled the background and the patterns in the shirt and jacket, those pops of red colour really bring this portrait off the page.

Thanks for all the positive comments. It gives me the confidence to want to paint more and improve and refine my technique. The observation about the red braces is perfect. Lucky he was wearing them or the portrait might have been a bit monotone. Something to keep in mind for future.
