Join the club Karen, I like plain backgrounds too! Especially if an animal or bird it shows off the subject so well without distraction. This is Beautiful, and I love the colours you've used.

I’d wanted to paint this chap again, backgroundless, for a while. I personally really love subjects like this on clean white backgrounds, I find them contemporary and soothing, but I know in some art circles it is considered a cop-out. Here, i’m glad I copped out!
