Wow, who needs a pencil when you can get results like this, A very powerful watercolour, I thought it was an oil at first? Has a continental feel to it.

Agree with Stephen - great use of darks

I've said this before I know, but your work inspires me! I've just seen this wonderful watercolour and already, I'm twitching to get cracking on a colour, straight in with the brush scene. Your work stands out. This works so well and yet again, I'm envious! I do like the dry brush work. You got the line on the road first time, no messing about. I know that those touches are the bits that can so easily go wrong whereas because you paint with such confidence you always get it right! I wondered about the size of these paintings?

Very good! Done in quick time too.

Absolutely brilliant Joseph! How on earth do you get such rich colours out of watercolours or are you perhaps using concentrated watercolour liquids? I agree with Stephen that this has got a continental/Mediterranean feeling.

I agree with everyone these watercolour scenes of yours are really excellent Joseph, Michaels comment about great use of darks is spot on, particularly in the people it really helps to define them and their poses, having them all wearing bright tops and then the darks of the bus shelter concentrates attention on the figures perfectly, great light as well

Strong, bold painting, Joseph. I like it very much.

Thank you everyone for your great comments - much appreciated. Louise I use different sizes ranging from 7inch by 12inch,, 12inch by 16inch, and then around 24inch by 30inch. This one is 12 inch by about 18 inch (bit of an odd size). Glad my stuff gives you a bit of inspiration :-)

Deep darks and dazzling lights......another great city scene!

I don't often draw a painting either and this is just so wonderful.

A super piece. Love the very strong focal point, accentuated by the light.

Fantastic.
