Great series of images Jon, good imagination. refreshing to see something different on the gallery. Keep em coming.

Robert w, you made my day. and by doing that I have come to realise just how powerful comments can be, insofar as motivation is concerned. We "artistes" are a sensitive bunch and criticism, (negative or positive), can affect us greatly.

Oh don't I personaly know only to well about criticism and motivation. In art people tend to paint and emulate the current fashions in order to conform and so feel that they thus belong to a community, anything out of the ordinary can be overlooked, don't get disheartened by it Van Gogh was criticised all his short life but highly valued now, there's a lesson there.

Here, here, conforming to societies expectations in ALL forms, for me, is a"spin" introduced many centuries ago. For example, (and no insult intended to the people concerned) my only other comments here on this site, have all been regarding my breaking of the rules. ! None of which were done knowingly. Ergo.... the preoccupation of ones public image. Once again, thank you so very much for your inspiring words. Some things are priceless.

For me, "Art" is all about expression and creativity. Some folk think that the famous stack of building bricks was a farce. Everyone is more than entitled to an opinion. Ask the question of WHY the majority of people shared the opinion re the bricks! The answer in my mind is all about the side issues. Winning a prize, a child could do it so what are things coming to?, most negative feedback from the general public was only heard due to the media spotlight on the subject. In essence, why not a pile of bricks? Expressing yourself using any medium is art to me. Finally, the "Bricks" helped by opening up the lines in the sand in a way that would allow some artists the courage to show their work that may well of been hidden behind a socially imposed fear of rejection. Here endeth the lesson. J W

I agree expressing yourself in any medium is "Art", I paint almost exclusively in oils as when I started painting it was an either or situation, oils or watercolour , computers were big things in which I opened the door and walked into when servicing them, graphics as we understand them today were unheard of, nowadays I do have a graphics tablet and pen but have never been comfortable with them, its just a case of what you are used to I suppose. Art is and must be about creativity most of the stuff I do is either from memory or imaginative fantasy which has always been my main interest, I only submit the normal and the tamer fantasy ones to this gallery as I know the others will be ignored, as it is I get very few comments. I have just completed two Saucer canvases but I know I wont put them on the gallery, if I want honest opinions I ask my wife as she is my fiercest critic, if its rubbish she wont hesitate to say so. I have been looking lately for a site that has a dedicated "Fantasy Art" section found "Wet Canvas" but still trolling around it for more info at the moment. R W

Robert, are you sure that isn't MY wife you speak of?? Ha!, as with yours, mine too is my private, honest critic. Please tell me that your "Saucers" are what I hope they are! As in having a "Grey" pilot!. Even if they aren't, I would dearly love to see them, even if you e mailed me the images.! [email protected]

Hi Jon. Dunno if they are grey pink or spotted but they are alien ha ha. Seriously they are 2 paintings of crashed saucers. I will mail them to you as I will not be putting them on the gallery, have. Deleted a lot that i sent in previously as no on appeared interested. B later as am away from home the mo. Excuse spelling as writing this on my crap phone k/b.

I am interested, if you hadn't of mentioned "The Saucers" I would never of had the great pleasure of seeing them. I think they are both amazing and vibrant. What I gleaned from your philosophy thus far, was an attitude of a man unconcerned with peoples points of view. In my mind, you are one of the most brave and outstandingly talented artists on the site. Ten out of ten for your Saucers. P.S. "Crash" is currently my desktop background.....So there!

Jon thanks very much for your kind comments very much appreciated. Keep posting your works they are stunningly original and imaginative, I think there may be a lot of us who paint unusual works who have just become disillusioned with the gallery, however you have made me wonder if it may be worth my having a rethink and posting for the hell of it, if we both continue it may give others of a like nature the nerve to post their stuff? .....By the way there have been reports of UFO sightings in this area over the last few weeks, not seen anything myself but I live in hope.
