Two Dancers

Super pastel drawings John, great details and light and shade, very atmospheric as well

I really like the composition of this and the lighting is good. But I have a problem withe the right hand of the dancer in the forefront. It looks very skeletal and not even attached to her. What was your picture source ? Is it from your own material . Did you have live models ? I ask because I feel if this was painted from models the arm and hand would not have appeared like this. Curiosity.

Hi Sylvia. I did this several years ago and the source was a photograph in The Sunday Times supplement - still have it somewhere. You're absolutely right about the hand - I attend a regular life drawing class now so hopefully getting better at hands!! I'll revisit this painting one day to sort it.

Still, it has a lovely atmosphere and light. The hand didn't bother me particularly - it's a painting, not a photograph!
