Fantastic painting, great reflections. Beautifully painted

This has such wonderful atmosphere. Truly beautiful. Where is this bridge and canal, John? And the size of the painting?

This is the Oxford canal at Kidlington and it's 15 by 11 ins

I love your paintings very much, John. They are so full of sunlight and you use beautiful colours!

Agree with Mia, the sunlight in this one is amazing. Beautiful work.

Once more proving that effect is inversely proportionate to means. But this looks deceptively simple: the technique is very refined. Are you a Yorkshire Somerscales John? My family originall shared your surname (from a tiny hamlet called Somerscales which no longer exists) in the 16th-17th C.The Norwegians are responsible for the mutation into Sommerschield.

A lovely painting, great reflections and shadows.

Agree with above! Fabulous shadows.

So much light and so fresh painting. Brilliant!

Fantastic light! And lovely reflections! Love your work!

beautiful light john so crisp

Super clean and charming watercolour. Beautiful water.

Hello Kim, yes the family originate from Hull and we have visited the site of the hamlet such as it is. My great grandfather Thomas Jacques was a highly successful marine artist and RA. You can see his work in the Maritime museum and occasionally in the Tate!

Another wonderful piece. Your paintings are always drenched in sunlight and atmosphere. And so stunningly beautiful. Thank you very much, too, for taking the time to stop by and comment on my work.
