Immense and inspiring John very great painting indeed once again

So beautiful John, Love the colours used, amazing and beautiful :)

Great painting, John, with marvellous texture and colours.

Beautiful evocative words to go with a beautiful painting, John. The most gorgeous colours!!

Thanks everyone. Enjoyed painting it but struggled as the waterfall was originally the width of the picture - too much! The eagle, by the way, Helen, is in the distance, third crag from the right. He can see you even if you can't see him!

The thing that stands out mostly in this painting is its balance. The mountain at the left being slightly higher than the one on the right is perfectly complemented by the water at the middle right. And the much smaller mountain at middle left is the final touch in this great proportion and balance.

I've come back to this a couple of times as I admire your use of the paint - love the almost abstract properties of this.

Lovely texture and strong balanced colours. I appreciate 'Fellside' too. What sizes are they?

Great composition and feeling of light and depth, John, and love the colours and ruggedness of the textures.

Many thanks everyone. In answer to Teddi, they are 8"x10"

Oil on board. I took the title from a favourite poem - 'The Eagle' by Tennyson. Begins, 'He clasps the crag with crooked hands, Close to the sun in lonely lands'.
