Your pen & wash are very very good. I particularly like this one.

Very nice, and subtle greys. Lovely drawing.

Gudrun, Shirley, Satu...thank you all for your comments -it's very encouraging.

This is very lively and very nicely done and is a very attractive work. The only things that occurs to me (and it is only that I am doing quite a bit of pen a wash at the moment - some in this style) that you may need just a tiny touch of colour right in the far background, just to make sure your viewer's eye travels there. I don't know about you, but I find leaving some areas unpainted is a minefield as you have to get it just right or it either looks unfinished or leaves the viewer only looking at some parts of the work. Also, I have always used spatter to give a more casual look to all my paintings, but I do think that is another minefield as too much can totally destroy the effect. I find it hard to direct spatter exactly where I want it and in the direction I want. It ends up being one of the happy accidents when it works and a right pain when it doesn't.

In a similar style to my Whitby sketch, here's another gem from Yorkshire's coast...plenty of colour in the bustling scene...I am planning a whole series of finished paintings of various villages and tons o the coast, ready for the Staithes Arts Festival in September!
