Certainly has a Linocut look and it is very good.

This is great!

Ooooo....hard to choose Jenny. I’m a fan of monochrome but your gorgeous style and taste with colour......I choose this one....love it.

I really love this Jenny. I am a huge fan of monochrome dork and this caught my eye immediately.

Many thanks, Richard, Heather, Fiona and Diana! Yes, there’s definitely something very appealing about monochrome, I often prefer it despite my love of colour.

Indian ink has a high staining property and very difficult, if not impossible to "Lift". For a monochrome, I would recommend mixing a Gray(s) in watercolor, acrylic or oils; that is if it's going to be a Grisaille and avoid Indian ink. The bad news, inks on contacting the paper, seem to "dive right in" and leave a stubborn stain. My own view of painting in inks is that "corrective western painting" does not go hand in hand with painting in ink and one has to adopt, "non-corrective eastern painting" . It's not impossible but it's hard work.

An eye catching piece of work, a well balanced image. Love that frog :)

Thank you, Clive and Carol! (and Clive for your observations re the ink - I wouldn’t normally use ink like this, but wanted to try it out on this one - and not being able to lift it does have its benefits as you can easily build up layers without disturbing earlier washes, as often happens with watercolour.)

This shows up your good sense of tonal values Jenny.

Thanks, John and Dennis!

I keep on coming back to this one Jenny. It’s delightful.

Thank you so much, Sylvia, comment really appreciated! (I might try a couple more like this, it’s surprising how appealing monochrome is, we are all normally so focussed on colour.)

This little design was originally done for a lino-cut, but I’ve since painted it in colour. Thought I’d have one more go at it in monochrome using Indian Ink, which I haven’t ‘painted’ with before and found it hard not being able to lift out areas as you can with watercolour. Spent a lot of time touching it up! Think I prefer this version to the others, though.
