This is different Jenny, great design.

Crickey Jenny, I would have tied myself in knots trying to work this out. You’ve ended up with a terrific piece of modern art there, and I wouldn’t hesitate to give it wall space.....love it!

Thank you, Carole and Fiona! It was interesting to have tried once, but I don't think I'll be doing any more any time soon - trying to do anything abstract tends to give me a headache! (This did have a logical starting point, though - apart from the circles, this is basically overlapping outlines of five small and two taller vases, but knowing where to add the colours was the most difficult part.)

I think it's a super painting. Great in concept and execution.

Many thanks, Lewis!

Hi Jenny, thanks very much for your comment on the collagraph. It’s a fascinating medium and one with no holds barred......you can try anything and as you say for some of the methods you don’t need a press at all. If you use the technique we’re you cut out from the surface of mount board as I did with the stump, you can print that way by hand. Almost the same as you would with linocut. I think it’s when you start adding layers where you want to leach the ink from deeper marks that you need a press. I couldn’t have got the ink from the vegetation in the foreground without a press. It was good fun, if a bit messy sticking stuff down. Good luck!

Haven't done any new paintings for a while - busy with exhibitions at the moment. This was done for an art club workshop following an interesting demo. by Max Hale last week on creating semi abstracts. I found this far harder than it looked - deciding where to place the outlines and the where to add the colour.
