Watermelons by Jay DePalma

Very dramatic setting for watermelons, Jay, but neverthless a juicy fruit to be sure, at least in this painting which is excellent.

Hello James, The client is a Spanish lady with a taste for the old world paintings and she came to me with the image. Dramatic is right. Thanks for the compliment and for taking the time to write. Jay

I was feeling quite good about my paintings until I saw your extraordinary gallery! Perhaps I should give up now and save myself any further anguish :) I'll probably not comment again, jealousy is a terrible thing isn't it? :) Seriously though, your collection is fantastic. (said through gritted teeth) :)

So vibrant with that gorgeous blue in the background. Cut melon looks so juicy and the seeds falling out look wonderful. A great painting, bet they were pleased with this!!

Dear Louise, I fully understand, when I see an artist who's work is amazingly fabulous, I feel inside me the sudden convulsion of earthquakes, volcanoes erupt, hurricanes blow, lighting strike and tsunamis swept entire coastlines - but only for a minute or two. :-) Now, all joking aside, don't even think of giving up painting, instead grab those brushes tighter and push yourself to be better and try harder. You'll be surprise how good your work will become once you set your mind to do so. If I can be of any assistance, don't hesitate to call. Best wishes, Jay

Hi Carole, The seeds were a headache. Yes, I can say the client was very happy and commissioned a second piece to go next to this one on her dining room. Thanks so much! Jay My keypad is acting up, sorry for repeats.

Excellent still life, striking painting, beautifully painted as the rest of your gallery

Indeed a very dramatic and lively piece. Love the way you achieved such fantastic detail with oil pastels. You have a beautiful gallery.

Thank you so much.
