This one particularly appeals to me for its clarity and tonal strength. I do a lot of pencil drawing but having seen these I'm temped to take my gallery down. They make mine look grubby and loose

Sorry meant to ask, how do you get that soft shading on the face? Do you use a tortillon, a cloth of a finger?

Hello Diana, Don't even think about taking your gallery down - instead, think about moving to the next level and achieving the effect you want on your graphite work. I never use tortillon because they are too hard and they can dent the surface of my boards and fingers have oils, so I don't use them either. I go to a craft store and buy a white piece of soft felt and cutting little squares, I blend the layers of graphite as I go. I'm going to post more tid/bits of tips and will share this technique in more detail. Thanks, Jay
