Rustic background is fine....the trouble is that you have given the apples the same texture. Impact would have been greater, and more appropriate, if the apples had a smooth texture, as in life, they surely do. You would then have had the ideal image of natural against man made. Good effort!

Thanks Roger. You are right. I went a bit too over the top with the textured background. It's all a bit messy. It's a good subject to practice with though so i shall try a few more and address certain issues.
