The Life Model, Head Study

Love this - red chalk is so rare these days, but such an expressive medium (and so available to anyone who would like to try it, hint...). It can convey as much as, and sometimes more than, a painting in full colour. I'd also like to see a revival of silverpoint - again, the materials are readily available, and it produces superb results. Wonderful fluidity of line here, by the way.

I love the use red chalk - it brings something of the antique to it. I particularly like the vigour of the lines around his shoulder and neck.
