I just love the way the light picks out each petal. I also love the way the petals have been angled at the front. well done

Great, 'sanded paper'.... do you mean like pastel paper or is this especially for pencils? I use colourfix pastel paper for my pastels and pastel pencil work is this similar?

Fantastic! I too am curious to know what "sanded paper" is.

fabulous drawing. The lighting on the petals is beautiful.

Beautiful flower of course but how did you get that background so smooth without pencil marks showing? Are they pure coloured pencils or watercolour pencils?

Thank you, folks, for your kind comments. Yes, this was done on Colourfix sanded paper - I think the colour was Fresh Grey. Colourfix is designed primarily for pastel work and the surface is like a very fine sandpaper. I love this paper, it comes in a wide range of colours. Coloured pencils work very well on it and you can get good coverage and quite strong colour much more quickly than working on white papers. I'm quite impatient and like to see the drawing develop quickly so it suits me well! I run a blog where I regularly post my work as it develops. For anyone interested, it can be found at www.janetpantryart.blogspot.com

Diane, for the background, I laid down strokes of blue coloured pencil and then smoothed it over with some cotton buds, gently working the pigment into the sanded surface.

I agree with everyone...this is an amazing result. Beautiful.
