Do keep going with this sort of thing - suggest you need to lift the line a bit now and then, ie don't always try to pursue one line (it sounds fine in theory, but gets in the way of spontaneity) or you get somewhat distinct shapes where things should work together: this is most obvious in the drawing of the hen on the left, whose rear end looks just a little stuck on with gaffer tape... Delicate colour, and just a little more freedom of line - see Japanese and Chinese artists - would have brought these drawings more life.

Thanks for taking time to comment and give helpful hints. This was done whilst I was at work and I didn't have time to really think of where I was going with it. It was more of an experiment with the ink line as described but I understand what your suggesting. Will try again......

Influenced by the latest edition of leisure painter I followed the idea of using ink pen to draw so that I make one line and less rubbing out etc I then coloured the hens with derwnt coloursoft pencils although I did have a limited pallette of 8 colours.
