This is a very interesting composition Jamie, the 'worms eye view' brings home the scale of the mill. Sadly, a Victorian, brick built railway warehouse, has been recently demolished near my home and I never got around to painting it.

Like this one as well; slightly alarmed by your comment that you need to adjust the sky on number one - mind you, I get alarmed easily..... If I were you, which of course I ain't, I should do another version rather than muck about with the one you've already finished. A dramatic and lowering sky CAN enhance a dramatic building, but it can also start to look like the set for a Hammer horror film: I think your first painting worked well as it was. Not that I should wish to influence you in any way.............

I also like this one as well Jamie. It's a great study and not boring at all......especially when the painting is as good as this.

This is also a beautiful painting, Jamie. I like them both, although on this one the building is more impressive. Stunning addition to a beautiful gallery.

I quite agree with all the comments I have read regarding both paintings of the mill. They are just great. Do you paint plein air or do you manage the different perspectives from memory?

A good painting is never boring, Jamie, and this is super. It's full of atmosphere and so very lively.

Sorry to be boring but I couldn't stop myself from sketching a second version of the mill. This time a closer look at the side view. Thanks for the comments on the first one. I do need to adjust the sky to reflect the mood. The first painting had red in the sky but it didn't show up too well on the scan. We;re lucky here around to have a few moody mills and so I will try some more sometime.
