I don't think it's messy, but don't care if it is because you've caught this place: it looks foreboding, and from your description that's just as it should look. Charcoal (and carbon pencil, and conté crayon) plus watercolour - sometimes with a bit of ink added - can be a fantastic combination, and is so here. I've liked all of your paintings, but this is one of the best of them.

I like it too. The sky looks quite light and a darker, angrier sky might have added to the foreboding atmosphere. Well done

Jamie I haven't been here but I think you have really captured the atmosphere of the place you have described so well . Something quite feeling about it , maybe the very dark trees . I like it .

I like this Jamie, the mill looks suitably shabby after many years hard work.

I agree with all the above comments, Jamie, this is one of your bests: beautiful composition and I love the colour scheme and techniques you used!

Lots of atmosphere Jamie and really well excecuted.

Charcoal & watercolour of Edbridge Mill in North Walsham. Rather a messy attempt but I wanted to capture some of the dark foreboding atmosphere which this place exudes. It is a derelict dangerous shell which contains tonnes of asbestos and overlooks the old Dillham canal at its deepest and darkest area.
