This is unusual but really good Jamie, really well rendered, just enough detail

Just seen your kind comment on my pastel horse Jamie and seen more of your work, your pen & ink and unknown norfolk images are brilliant, i am struggling with my pastel work but am persevering, pastel pencils seem obvious choice for animal fur but in reality they lose their points so quickly and i guess i am impatient and need to slow down more and take my time then worn down tips of pastel pencils wont seem so much of a problem, i like oil pastels but of course they are stumps and so not easy to delicate precision work with such as fur

I had a few days where I painted loose washes onto paper. I made a few of these washes and just let the paint mingle. The paper had been soaked firstly on both sides with water. I picked this piece up today and thought that I would do a sketch onto it. What caught my attention was two white areas which had been left on the paper amongst the washes. Above these the wash had mixed and swirled to form what looked like eyebrows over two eyes. A short while later I had penned the face of a chimpanzee which had almost come out of the paper at me. Colours used were cadmium yellow, cobalt blue and warm orange.
