I avoid the resort beaches in Summer - someone's always trying to sell you something, and it's usually tat. But then, the Isle of Wight is devoted to summery tat, and I say that as one who has lived here for nearly 62 years: colourful but depressing.............

Love the colours - I didn't see this when I was there a couple of weeks ago. Reminds me of Russell Brand's wagon in the closing of the Olympic games yesterday and brings back the the relief that it was him singing and not Paul McCArtney. Reminiscent of childhood pink candifloss and sticks of rock. Very clever picture.

Linda, thanks for your encouraging words. Robert, I hope the colours lift the depression! Mind you, my wife reminded me that when we lived on the Island we never went near the beach in summer!

7.5x4.5 ins acrylic. I was fascinated by the colours of the bouncy slide and the folk passing along the esplanade. Summer brings out the best and worst, a kaleidoscope of colours, shapes and sizes. The bizarreness of it all lights my fire; great art it's not but maybe it captures something of a fleeting image captured first in colour grip pencils then a 2B drawing translated into this....
