Looks like you had fun. Should his nose be a bit longer for a Pointer???

Sylvia: Looks as though i have not dabbed enough around his nose.

Go dab a bit more.

Hi, James..You enjoyed doing this one, didn't you! he is a lovely dog..I have a soft spot for pointers. Can I suggest you try for a bit more accuracy in the conformation...If you're using a photograph (and many of us do...) try tracing the outline first , which will then allow you to concentrate on the actual painting of your hound. I think you would learn a great deal by doing this. I hope you don't mind my suggestion, but you are such a keen poster and painter that I would love to help if I can, with my (lots to learn myself!) limited knowledge and advice. Regards.

Lovely dog James yes I dare you go dab a bit more

The head probably ought to be a bit leaner, pointier (if there is such a word) and keener, but .... I think your dabbing has produced a very strong image, and I don't think there's a lot wrong with the build of the dog. By the way, if that's what Gunter does actually look like, resist all calls to change him... others may question the purity of his breeding, but if they do, just refer them to the dog himself.

Sylvia, Ruth, Patsy, Robert: Many thanks for your comments he is(was) a pure bred German Shorthaired , Pointer, with a fancy Crufts Name. Their is something about this particular work which attracts me and I can't say what it is. I think I'll have another try in Pastel. Any advice would be welcome
