Your second attempt, for goodness' sake! Be happy with it. I am no pastellist, but you have great scope to improve because your drawing is sound (eg, the paws). As you approach your next one, think of blending, using thicker colour, mixing the colours on the paper together with your hand, with cotton buds, with paper torchons. You've established the form of the animal here, and the primary tones; it seems to me that you just need to blend things together. Scrape off the excess with a blade, eg a razor blade, and work back into the colour. Tis is a very good start - to see a master pastellist at work, look out for Arnold Lowrey on the painting and drawing channel, and on Youtube.

Thanks Robert for the encouragement and sound critic, I watch Arnold on the P&D channel, didn't think of YouTube. Will take up your suggestions Regards
