River Yar Marsh by Ian Ellis

Four excellent paintings Ian.

An area I know very well: we used to take the dogs for walks along the path bordering the marsh (which was once the Yarmouth to Newport railway line): and my paternal grandmother was the gatekeeper, who lived in a cottage just up the way from this scene. You've used an effective combination of very thin and quite thick paint, and a convincingly desaturated palette.

Four very good paintings. If there is to be a favourite this is my choice.

I love the ripples on the water, very well captured.
