Water Lilies in May
It's easy to be put off painting a subject that is so inextricably linked to one artist, who made the subject their own. But I'd like to think Monet would want all painters to enjoy this shimmering, timeless subject as much as he did. I loved the few hours I spent painting this view from a footbridge over a loop in the Trent river in Burton, and will definitely be returning to do more. It's a beautiful spot - I think Monet would approve.
