Faded Tulips

Tulips always look so sad when they're dying and this is a lovely representation Helen

Thanks Heather, they do look a bit sorry for themselves, but so interesting to study, along with their murky water!

Beautifully painted, as all flower paintings in your gallery.

Thank you so much Iwona, I'm so glad you are enjoying my work.

These were the first tulips I got my hands this year, and I painted them over and over until they completely wilted. It was really fascinating to see how the colours and shapes of the flowers changed as they decayed, the greens becoming pale and creamy, the flower heads becoming dark and twisted. I've stopped discarding my flowers now, which is all a bit Miss Havisham, but offers a whole new angle on the floral still-life theme.
