Onthe contrary Helen. The deeper the shadows, the sunnier the scene. You have captured this scene beautifully

I agree with Chris, Helen, the shadows look fine to me and it's a lovely painting. I especially like the contrast on the roofs of the little middle building, with one in shadow and one in bright sunlight. As you're considering the shadow issue, I wondered if adding a shadow, going across the front of the painting, falling across the road from an unseen building on the left, might help in carrying the eye into the picture. It could also act as a balancing agent, to the darker areas of the houses and shadows, and make a nice contrast. Just a thought and it's great as it is.

The contrast of light and dark made me look at this, so do keep the shadows dark as they have helped to make this very 3D :)
