This is great, I bet she loves it.

Oh gorgeous dog portrait Harold, super character, so sad about the character

That was supposed to say about the cancer of course Harold!

Gorgeous portrait, amusing as well as poignant. Lets hope that all the new treatments for cancer in dogs will be effective. The best of luck to the lovely chap.

A beautiful portrait of a lovely looking boy! I'm sure that your friend will be very happy to have it.

Thank you all.My friend loved the picture and she says it takes pride of place in her home.Sadly Thea,it is too late for any miracle cure but she is enjoying the time she has left with the dog

We have lost our last three Flat-Coated Retrievers to cancer, two at only 8 years old, which was tragic. The Animal Health Trust over at Newmarket are doing cutting edge work in the field of cancers in dogs and cats, but in the end you have to decide about quality of life. We fought hard for our three dogs, but in hindsight I wonder if we did the right thing. You can't explain to a dog that it is going to feel horrible for bit, with either operations or treatment, and then it might feel better. We are going to make a very different decision with our last remaining Flat Coat if the dreaded C should rear it's ugly head with her and enjoying the time you have left and keeping them happy and untroubled is definitely the way to go and the kindest in the end. Do wish you friend well from me - I absolutely understand what she must feel.

Thanks again Thea.Patricia lives in America and vets bills are expensive, but we all find the money for our pets somehow..The dog, who,s name is Louis, saved her life when she collapsed into a coma while home alone. She was in a coma for 5 days, and the dog kept licking her to wake her up.When they finally found her,the dog panicked and ran away,It was months before she recovered and eventually was reunited with her dog,who had been found by a family and had cared for her.

What a beautiful and moving story.
