I like painting dippers, but I find it difficult to obtain the correct colour for the brown feathers. For this piece I had a play and created the water using the embossing bag technique. It took around 5-6 stages using different colours. I wanted to try and get a raging torrent effect, with water sparkles in the right place. Then I painted the bird once this was complete.
