I think I've seen the original photograph you've based this on? Thirties USA - the woman had every reason to be worried, too. You've made a good job of it, whether it was based on that photo or not. Red chalk, or paint?

Thank you all for the kind words. Robert, yes this was from an old photo I found somewhere. I wanted to try and capture the haunted expression. As someone interested in portraiture I'm always on the lookout for interesting faces.
